This database shows volatile organic compound (VOC) emission rates from upholstered chairs with different flame retardant (FR) treatments. The chairs are categorized as no added FR but a barrier material added between the foam and textile cover (Barrier textile), no FR added (No FR), organophosphate chemical flame retardant added (OPFR), and reactive chemical flame retardant added (Reactive FR). CIRI scientists characterized emissions using exposure chambers. Emissions of specific VOCs from different chair types can be compared using this tool.

Detection frequency was calculated based on all four studied chair types.
